Ryan's Brighton defeat Arsenal as dream season continues for Seagulls

Mat Ryan's Brighton defeated Arsenal in the English Premier League overnight with the Caltex Socceroo keeper again in eye-catching form for the high-flying Seagulls.

First-half goals from Lewis Dunk and Glenn Murray were enough for the hosts to claim their third successive win at the Amex Stadium in front of just over 30,000 fans and their first win over the Gunners in 36 years.

Ryan was again in good form ahead of two friendlies for the national team later this month.

The Aussie star kept out Henrik Mkhitaryan’s powerful cross behind at his near post in the first half and parried an effort from Mezut Ozil early in the second half.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said after the game: "For us, it’s massive, our first win against one of the top six [sides]. Our intent in the first half was good - and overall, I thought we deserved it."

Brighton are now tenth in the Premier League.
