How the Socceroos prepared for Kuwait

Since the final 23-man Socceroos squad was announced on December 22, Australia's preparations for Asia's football showpiece clicked into overdrive.

Ange Postecoglou's troops assembled in Melbourne on Monday December 29 to front their first training session on a hot afternoon at the home base of AFL powerhouse Collingwood.

The intensity of sessions gradually increased over the course of a two-week camp with players put through punishing 60-minute work-outs focusing on ball retention, movement and one-touch passing.

Postecoglou made no secret of his desire for a more attack-minded approach when announcing his squad and this was drilled into the players throughout the camp.
