Connor Metcalfe emerged as one of the standout young players in the 2020/21 A-League campaign, earning his reward with a place in Arnold's 31-man squad bound for Kuwait in June, 2021.

The midfielder has risen through the junior ranks at current club Melbourne City, helping Patrick Kisnorbo's men claim their first domestic piece of silverware, the 2021 A-League Premiers' Plate.

Metcalfe scored five goals and assisted three in 24 City appearances throughout the title-winning A-League Men season.

The young midfielder is an emerging prospect for the Socceroos as has been displayed in his league form, demonstrating power, pace and an eye for creativity. Metcalfe’s form did not go unnoticed and in February 2022 secured a move to 2. Bundesliga outfit FC St. Pauli ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
