Socceroos Abroad: European and Asian based Socceroos return to club football

Socceroos Abroad is back with club action returning after the March window, and the players have until June to impress Graham Arnold for the next squad.

There are some important games for Aussies across Europe this weekend while those playing Asia continue to get their season underway.

In EFL League One, fresh off of his maiden Socceroos goal, Kusini Yengi (cap #638) should get some minutes for Portsmouth when they take on Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday at 2:00am (AEDT).

Also in League One, Gethin Jones (cap #639) should start at the same time when Bolton travel to Stevenage.

In the EFL Championship Riley McGree (cap #609) is a doubt for Middlesbrough for their away clash with Southampton on Saturday at 2:00am (AEDT). However, Samuel Silvera (cap #634) should be involved, while Tom Glover is likely to be the reserve goalkeeper.

Elsewhere in England’s second tier, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) and Massimo Luongo (cap #571) could start when Ipswich Town play away to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday at 4:30am (AEDT).

Also, Harry Souttar's (cap #606) Leicester City are away to Bristol City on Friday at 11:30pm (AEDT).

In the English Premier League, Joe Gauci (cap #631) might be on the bench for Aston Villa as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday at 4:30am (AEDT).

Lewis Miller (cap #635), Martin Boyle (cap #599) and Olyroo Nectarios Triantis could be involved for Hibernian as they face Rangers away in the Scottish Premiership at 2:00am (AEDT).

Also in Scotland’s top flight, Keanu Baccus (cap #628) will hope to earn a start for St Mirren in their away match with Motherwell at 2:00am (AEDT).

Hearts’ trio Cameron Devlin (cap #625), Nathaniel Atkinson (cap #620) and Kye Rowles (cap #622) could all start when the side welcome Kilmarnock on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).

Ryan McGowan (cap #546) is likely to start in defence for St Johnstone in their home tie with Dundee FC on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).

In Scotland’s League One, Dylan McGowan (cap #590) should get another start for Hamilton Academical on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT) as the side look to make four wins in a row against Queen of the South.

Craig Goodwin (cap #562) will be eager to build on his brace while on Socceroos duty for Al-Wehda’s home game against Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday at 6:00am (AEDT).

Also in the competition, Aziz Behich (cap #547) remains a doubt for Al Nassr’s clash with Al Taee on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).

In the Saudi second tier, Connor Pain (cap #565) could start for Al Oroba as they take on Jeddah at 6:00 am (AEDT) on Friday.

Jason Cummings (cap #626) and Dimitri Petratos (cap #593) will look to continue their red-hot form for Mohun Bagan SG when they host Chennaiyin FC on Monday at 1:00am (AEDT) in the Indian Super League.

Kenny Dougall (cap #608) looks set to start on Sunday at 9:30pm (AEDT) for Buriram United as they do battle with Chiangrai United in the Thai Premier League.

Brad Smith (cap #575) will look to have another decisive impact off the bench for Houston Dynamo on Sunday at 11:30 am (AEDT) against San Jose in Major League Soccer. Smith grabbed a 96th-minute winner for Houston in their victory over Colorado last Sunday.

In Eredivisie, Mathew Ryan (cap #555) should start in goal for AZ Alkmaar when they play against Vitesse on Sunday at 7:00am (AEDT).

Also in the Dutch top flight, Garang Kuol (cap #627) will target some minutes off the bench for FC Volendam in their away tie with Almere City on Monday at 1:45am (AEDT).

Finally, in the competition, Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) is unlikely to feature for Heracles Almelo against FC Twente following his injury on Socceroos duty.

In 2. Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) and Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) could both start for St. Pauli as they host sixth-placed Paderborn on Sunday at 10:30pm (AEDT).

John Iredale (cap #640) could also be in action in the German second division for Wehen Wiesbaden, taking on bottom side VfL Osnabruck at the same time.

In Belgium’s First Division A, Aiden O’Neil (cap #629) and Jordan Bos (cap #632) are doubts for this weekend. O’Neil’s Standard Liege travel to Gent on Saturday at 6:45am (AEDT), while Bos’ Westerlo travel to St. Truiden on Monday at 3:30am (AEDT).

Alessandro Circati (cap #637) is likely to start on Tuesday at 12:00am (AEDT) in Serie B for Parma as they face Catanzaro.

Fran Karacic (cap #607) could get some game time for Rudes in their match against Rijeka on Sunday at 3:00 am (AEDT) in Croatia 1. Division.

Alex Gersbach (cap #587) could get his first minutes in Sweden's Allsvenskan for Kalmar FF on Sunday at 11:00 pm (AEDT), as they get their season underway against Hammarby. 

James Holland (cap #508) might play for Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga, where they host BW Linz on Saturday at 5:30am (AEDT).

Trent Sainsbury’s (cap #574) Al Wakrah face Qatar SC on Sunday at 5:30am (AEDT) in Qatar Stars League.

Mitchell Duke (cap #559) will seek game time for Machida Zelvia in the J. League against Sagan Tosu on Saturday at 5:00pm (AEDT).

Also in the competition, Thomas Deng (cap #598) could start for Albirex Niigata on Saturday at 4:00 pm (AEDT) in their home tie with Kashiwa Reysol.

As mentioned in Scotland, Nectarios Triantis should play for Hibernian on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEDT) against Rangers. At the same time, in-form Calem Nieuwenhof is set to start Hearts against Kilmarnock.

Tyrese Francois should get some more game time on Wednesday at 4:00am (AEDT) for Vejle Boldklub in the Danish Superligaen against Odense.

In the English Premier League, Cameron Peupion might be on the bench when Brighton and Hove Albion travel to Liverpool on Monday at 12:00am (AEDT).

Nicholas Bilokapic looks set to be on the bench again for Peterborough United on Saturday at 2:00am (AEDT) against Carlisle United in EFL League One.

Jahce Novello could be on the bench for Cosenza in Serie B when for their clash with Brescia on Tuesday at 12:00 am (AEDT).

Alexandar Popovic will hope for some minutes for Gwangju on Sunday at 6:30pm (AEDT) when they host Daegu in K League 1.

Louis D'Arrigo will be in action for Lechia Gdansk on Wednesday at 5:30am (AEDT) as they take on Odra Opole in Polish I Liga.
