Match schedule confirmed for Australia at 2020 AFC U-23 Championship

The match schedule for January’s 2020 AFC U-23 Championship in Thailand has been confirmed, with Australia’s U-23s to play all their matches in Bangkok.

In Thursday night’s draw, the team were pitted against Bahrain, Iraq and host-nation Thailand.

The tournament runs from January 8-26, with Australia taking on Iraq in the very first match.

Iraq will be the first opponents on Wednesday, January 8, kicking off at 9.15pm (AEDT) at the Thammasat Stadium.

The second group match is a Saturday night blockbuster against the host nation, with a huge crowd likely at the Ragamangala Stadium.

Australia then close their group stage with a clash against Bahrain.

The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter finals, with the top three teams at the tournament earning the right to join host nation Japan as Asia's representatives at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
