Degenek hits the net in Serbia, Rogic scores on first start

Caltex Socceroos defender Milos Degenek scored for Red Star Belgrade to help his side to a crucial win in Serbia’s Super Liga overnight.

Degenek scored the opening goal as Red Star prevailed 3-1 at Vozdovac to move into a share of top spot on the ladder.

The 25-year-old, who played a key role in Red Star’s UEFA Champions League qualification last month, swept home from close range as he got on the end of Marko Marin’s free-kick.

Further goals either side of the break from El Fardou Ben Nabouhane and Aleksa Vokanovic was enough for the side from Belgrade to register their seventh win from eight league matches in 2019/20.

Red Star only trail league-leaders Backa Topola on goal difference, although they do have a game in hand.
