Joel King seals Sydney FC loan return

Subway Socceroos defender Joel King has secured a return to A-League Men's outfit Sydney FC for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

The 22-year-old, who was a member of Australia's squad at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, re-joins his former club on a temporary basis from Odense BK in the Danish Superliga.

The return comes almost a year to the day since King secured his first European move, linking up with the Danish club days after making his international debut against Vietnam on January 27, 2022.

Back in familiar surrounds, the Olyroos' left-back at Tokyo 2020 is eager hit the ground running.

“I’m excited to get back to Sydney FC and to play at the new Allianz Stadium which I’m yet to experience,” King told Sydney FC.

“It will be easy to slot back into the great culture at the club and I’m looking forward to fighting for my place in the starting line-up.

“It’s an extremely tight league this year and will be a very exciting second half to the season.

“Everything is still to play for and I’d love to win another Premiership and a third Championship medal.”

King will wear the number 3 jersey in sky blue once again, as he re-joins a Sydney squad looking to climb the A-League Men's ladder from eighth spot.
