Football Australia and CUPRA extend partnership as Official Automotive Partner

Football Australia is thrilled to announce the extension of its partnership with the electrifying automotive brand, CUPRA. The renewed commitment sees CUPRA solidify its support for Football Australia’s National Teams during one of the most exciting periods for football in Australia.

CUPRA first partnered with Football Australia in 2022, coinciding with the automaker’s entry into the Australian market with its range of performance petrol, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). This includes the CUPRA Formentor, the Official Vehicle of the Subway Socceroos and CommBank Matildas.

The continuation of this partnership marks yet another significant milestone for Football Australia, highlighting the collective effort of iconic, values-based brands such as CUPRA.

Upon confirming the partnership extension, Football Australia CEO James Johnson said this was another landmark day for the sport’s governing body and reinforces the power of the national football teams.

“It’s fantastic to have CUPRA extend their partnership with Football Australia, allowing both parties to build upon the great work that has been achieved both on and off the field over recent years to drive forward Australian football,” Johnson stated.

“CUPRA as a brand and their workforce have an unwavering passion for football, and it’s their global approach to business which mirrors so perfectly how our national teams engage with world football.

“We are excited to see CUPRA remain part of the Football Australia Family and look forward to seeing what we can continue to accomplish as we move forward on this journey together,” Johnson concluded.

CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said, “Our renewal caps off two years of strong engagement and outstanding results for not only CUPRA, but for football in Australia as a whole. Like an expert strike from Mary Fowler, our partnership has really struck home for our growing CUPRA Tribe in Australia. We’re delighted to see how that partnership continues to grow as we roll out a range of new initiatives and activations in this pivotal year for Australian football,” Wilks concluded.

The CUPRA brand, originating in Barcelona, Spain, has a strong history of igniting passion among football fans globally as an official partner of FC Barcelona. CUPRA has an impressive array of global ambassadors as part of its CUPRA Tribe including Australia’s very own Mary Fowler and Andrew Redmayne.

Throughout the partnership to date, CUPRA has brought the two brands together through multiple football-themed experiences at their CUPRA Garages.

To celebrate the partnership extension, CUPRA will be hosting a special CommBank Matildas’ Watch Party for the team’s AFC Women’s Paris 2024™ Olympic Qualifier against Uzbekistan on Wednesday, 28 February.

As a further sign of the two organisations’ alignment, CUPRA is collaborating with Football Australia on various inclusivity and diversity initiatives.
