Copa America 2020 draw time confirmed - who will the Caltex Socceroos face?

Caltex Socceroos fans, it is time to get excited because the Copa America 2020 draw is just over a week away!

On Wednesday 4 December at 11.30am AEDT, the Caltex Socceroos will find out their group opposition for the flagship South American tournament.

Australia will either be drawn in the North Zone with Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela OR the South Zone alongside Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile and Paraguay.

The Copa America 2020 will be the 47th edition of the tournament, and will be hosted in Argentina and Colombia from 12 June to 12 July.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarter finals, and the final will be held in Colombia.

The draw takes place in Cartagena, Colombia.

It is a huge chance for Australian football to showcase talent against some of the strongest nations and best players in the world, including the likes of Barcelona forwards Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, of Argentina and Uruguay respectively.  

 “Going into a tournament like that with the quality of opposition that we’re going to be facing and the experience it’s all going to give us is going to be phenomenal for us moving forward as a nation,” said Caltex Socceroos and Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan.
