Football Federation Australia (FFA) can advise that Tim Cahill will join the Caltex Socceroos squad in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, this week.
Cahill will join his Caltex Socceroos teammates for the forthcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Play-off (CONCACAF-Asian Zone) on Monday (local time), a day later than originally scheduled.
Cahill’s delayed departure to Honduras is part of the monitoring and rehabilitation process that has been put in place for an ankle injury that the Melbourne City FC attacker sustained on Friday night while playing in the Hyundai A-League.
Cahill was cleared of a fractured ankle on Saturday, however he will require continued assessment and treatment before a determination regarding his eligibility for the forthcoming matches is made by the Caltex Socceroos’ medical and coaching staff.
FFA can also advise that VfL Bochum attacker Robbie Kruse will not make the journey to Honduras.
Kruse remains part of the Caltex Socceroos’ squad for this month’s crunch play-off against Honduras, however like Mathew Leckie and Mark Milligan, Kruse will join the squad in Sydney ahead of the second-leg.
Caltex Socceroos 25-player squad for the following matches:
2018 FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Play-off (CONCACAF-Asian Zone) v Honduras (San Pedro Sula, Honduras – Friday 10 November 2017 and Sydney, Australia – Wednesday 15 November 2017)
