Caltex Socceroos' fixture history vs Group C opponents at World Cup 2018

How have the Caltex Socceroos fared against France, Denmark and Peru in the past?

Here's our form guide leading into the 2018 World Cup where these nations will meet in Group C.

CALTEX SOCCEROOS VS FRANCE

Australia has played France four times (W1, D1, L2). The last match was a friendly in Paris in 2011 (L 6-0).

Summary:

No doubt a very difficult opponent.

However one of Australia's greatest ever wins was against the then world champions France at the 2001 Confederations Cup, winning 1-0 in Daegu.

There was also a feisty friendly at the MCG later that year that ended 1-1.

But the last time each of these nations met, it was disastrous for the Aussies with a 6-0 friendly loss in Paris in late 2013, a result that spelled the end of former coach Holger Osieck.

CALTEX SOCCEROOS VS PERU

Australia has never played Peru in senior international competition.

CALTEX SOCCEROOS VS DENMARK

Australia has played Denmark three times (W1, L2).

Their last match was a friendly in Copenhagen in 2012 (L 0-2), attended by Australia's Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark.

Summary

No doubt the Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark angle will be a nice story around this game.

But on the pitch, Australia has only played three times against the Danes and it's all been in the last dedade.

There was a 3-1 loss in a friendly in London in 2007, followed by a 1-0 win in South Africa before World Cup 2010.

And there was a 2-0 loss in Copenhagen in another friendly in 2012.

Interestingly a number of Danes have played, or are currently playing, in the Hyundai A-League, including Melbourne City's Thomas Sorensen, Adelaide's Johan Absalonsen and Morten Nordstrand at Jets.
