Caltex Socceroo defender wins K-League fans award

Caltex Socceroo Matthew Jurman has capped off a fabulous 2017 by picking up the K-League Newcomer of the Year award, as voted by fans on www.kleagueunited.com.

Signed from Sydney FC last January, the left-sided central defender immediately made an impact with his K-League club Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

His form got him into the mix for the Caltex Socceroos and the former Brisbane Roar stopped - who played under Ange Postecoglou at Suncorp - stepped up seamlessly on  debut against Syria in an AFC World Cup playoff.

The 27-year-old kept his place in the national team for November's intercontinental playoff against Honduras in November, helping Australia qualify for a fourth consecutive World Cup after an assured display.
