Bernie immerses himself in Socceroo culture

Bernie Ibini says he has been soaking up the knowledge from some of the Socceroos most experienced players as he prepares for a possible debut cap for Australia.

The Sydney FC attacker has earned his first senior international call-up under coach Ange Postecoglou for friendlies against UAE and Qatar over the next week.

As one of the youngest players in the squad, Ibini is making the most of the opportunity and is trying to pick up as much as he can from the likes of Tim Cahill, Mark Bresciano and Mile Jedinak.

“They are Socceroos greats and to be able to train with them and hopefully learn a few things off them later on in the camp is something I’m looking forward too,” he told FFA TV.

“It’s been very exciting for myself…it’s been a great time so far.

“I’m looking forward to the games. We’ve (Sydney FC) had a pretty tough pre-season, it’s been a long one but I’ve played a lot of games so it’s been enjoyable as well so I feel pretty fit.”
