Aussies Abroad Wrap: Dundee United claim big win, Celtic come from behind against Rangers

In another big weekend of Aussies Abroad action, Dundee United secured a big win to move up the table while Celtic came from behind to secure a late point at Ibrox Stadium.

United Kingdom

Starting in Scotland, where Aziz Behich played 90 minutes in Dundee United's big 1-0 win over St. Johnstone on Tuesday while Mark Birighitti also started in goal and kept another clean sheet. Ryan McGowan also played 90 minutes for St. Johnstone in the match. 

The result means the Saints drop out of the top six while second-from-bottom Dundee United are three points above Ross County. 

Aaron Mooy also came on in the 61st minute as Celtic came from behind to secure a late point at Ibrox Stadium with a 2-2 draw against Rangers on Monday. 

Kyogo Furuhashi's 87th-minute equaliser leaves the champions nine points ahead at the top of the league.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Cameron Devlin and Kye Rowles both played 90 minutes as Heart of Midlothian beat Hibernian 3-0 on Tuesday. Nathaniel Atkinson also came off the bench in the 55th minute. 

Keanu Baccus also played 90 minutes in St Mirren's 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock on Tuesday while Ryan Strain also started and played 84 minutes. 

In England, Harry Souttar started and played 90 minutes as Stoke City narrowly lost 1-0 to Preston on Tuesday. The result confirms back-to-back losses for Stoke and leaves them in 18th position in the Championship.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Riley McGree's Middlesbrough are a point behind in fifth place after securing a sixth win in seven, beating Birmingham 3-1 away from home on Tuesday. McGree started and played 83 minutes in the win. 

Bailey Wright also started and played 90 minute minutes in Sunderland's 1-1 win draw with Blackpool on Monday. Kenny Dougall also came off the bench in the 80th minute. 

In Olyroos Abroad news, goalkeeper Nick Bilokapic featured on the bench as Huddersfield lost 2-1 against Luton Town on Tuesday. 

In League Two, goalkeeper Jacob Chapman also featured on the bench as Salford City lost 3-2 against Bradford City on Monday.

Elsewhere in League two, Lachlan Brook played 80 minutes as Crewe Alexandra beat Tranmere 1-0 on Tuesday.

  • In France's Ligue 2, Alex Gersbach started and played 90 minutes as Grenoble Foot 38 lost 1-0 to Metz on Saturday. 

United Kingdom

  • In the England Championship, Tom Rogic came off the bench in the 66th minute as West Brom beat Reading 1-0 on Tuesday. 
  • Elsewhere in the Championship, Callum Elder came off the bench in the 94th minute as Hull City beat Birmingham 1-0 on Saturday. He was also an unused substitute against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.
  • In League One, Ashley Maynard-Brewer lined up in goal for Charlton Athletic as they secured a 3-1 win against Portsmouth on Monday. 
  • Elsewhere in League One, Caleb Watts came off the bench at half time and scored two goals as Morecambe thumped Burton 5-0 on Monday.
  • Jack Iredale was an unused substitute as Bolton Wanderers drew 1-1 with Lincoln City in League One on Saturday. He also started and played 56 minutes in a 3-0 win against Barnsley on Tuesday. 
  • In Scotland, Phillip Cancar was an unused substitute as Livingston drew 1-1 with Motherwell on Tuesday.

  • In the Israeli Premier League, Nikita Rukavytsya came off the bench in the 90th minute as Maccabi Haifa beat Hapoel Be'er Sheva FC 2-0 on Monday.
