Aussies Abroad Wrap: Duke scores winner to stay top, McGree assists again

As our Socceroos returned to club action after camp, Mitch Duke scored the winner for Machida Zelvia in the J2 League, Trent Sainsbury also found the back of the net while Riley McGree contributed to his ninth goal involvement of the Championship season.

Starting in the J2 League, where Mitch Duke played 71 minutes for Machida Zelvia and scored the winner in 1-0 victory over  Fujieda MYFC on Sunday. 

Duke has started every game for Machida so far this season as they sit top of the table with a two-point lead. 

In  Qatar, Trent Sainsbury also found himself on the scoresheet as Al-Wakrah SC lost 4-2 to Al Sadd on Sunday.

Over to the English Championship, Riley McGree came on in the 65th minute and grabbed an assist for Middlesbrough in a 4-2 loss to Huddersfield on Sunday.

McGree's ninth goal involvement of the season came as he provided a cross for Chuba Akpom's header. 

It left Boro six points adrift of second-placed Sheffield United having played a game more, while the Terriers move level on points with Cardiff City in 21st place.

In Germany, Jackson Irvine played a full game while Connor Metcalfe came off in the 60th minute as St Pauli beat Jahn Regensburg 1-0  on Saturday in the 2. Bundesliga. 

St Pauli's ninth win in a row pushes them into fourth, within six points of the promotion places. 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Bailey Wright played a full game for Rotherham while Callum Elder was an unused substitute for Hull in a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

 Kenny Dougall started and played the first half for Blackpool in a 3-1 loss to Preston on Saturday while Tom Rogic came off the bench in the 74th minute as West Brom drew 0-0 with Millwall on Sunday.

In League One, Massimo Luongo started and came off in the 89th minute for Ipswich Town FC in a 2-0 win over Derby County on Sunday.

In the Premier League, where Harry Souttar played another 90 minutes as Leicester City suffered a disappointing last-minute 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 24-year-old left camp early to recover from an ankle knock he picked up against Ecuador in Sydney, but he slotted straight back into the Foxes starting 11. 

The result leaves Leicester one point adrift of safety in 18th position, and led to the club mutually parting ways with manager Brendan Rodgers. 

In Scotland, Kye Rowles played a full game while Garang Kuol and Nathaniel Atkinson were unused substitutes for Hearts in a 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock on Sunday. 

Ryan Strain played a full game while Keanu Baccus also started but came off in the 68th minute for St. Mirren in a 3-0 win over Livingston on Sunday.

Aziz Behich started and came off in the 82nd minute as Dundee United lost 2-0 to Rangers on Sunday.

Meanwhile, James Jeggo played a full game for Hibernian in a 3-1 loss to Motherwell on Sunday.

Ryan McGowan also played a full game for St. Johnstone in a 1-0 loss to Aberdeen on Sunday.

In the Scottish Championship, Dylan McGowan played another 90 minutes for Hamilton Academical in a disappointing 6-0 loss to Dundee on Sunday. 

In the Netherlands, Maty Ryan was in goal for AZ Alkmaar in a 1-1 draw with Heerenveen on Sunday. AZ are now winless in three games and have slipped to fourth in the Eredivisie.

In Czechia, Awer Mabil came off the bench in the 82nd minute as AC Sparta Prague won 3-1 against Brno on Monday.

In France's Ligue 1, Denis Genreau came off the bench in the 68th minute as Toulouse FC lost 3-1 to  Brest on Sunday.

In Serie B, Fran Karacic was an unused substitute for Brescia Calcio in a 4-3 loss to Ascoli on Saturday. Brescia are last in Serie B and in serious danger of relegation.

In Belgium, Jason Davidson played another 90 minutes for KAS Eupen as they narrowly lost 1-0 to Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League on Monday.

The J1 League continued on Saturday as Mitch Langerak played another full game for Nagoya Grampus in a 3-0 win over Albirex Niigata.

The K1 League also continued with Harrison Delbridge playing another full game for Incheon United in a 0-0 draw with Daegu on Saturday. 

In the Israeli Premier League play-offs, Nikita Rukavytsya was an unused substitute for Maccabi Haifa in a 1-0 win over H. Beer-Sheva on Sunday. 

The MLS season also continued with Milos Degenek playing another 90 minutes for Columbus Crew in a 4-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday. 

Elsewhere in the US, Alex Gersbach was an unused substitute for Colorado Rapids in a 0-0 draw with LAFC on Sunday.

Starting in the Premier League, where Tyrese Francois was an unused substitute as Fulham lost 2-1 to Bournemouth on Sunday.

In the English Championship, goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic was on the bench as Huddersfield beat Middlesbrough 4-2 on Sunday.

In League One, Caleb Watts was an unused substitute for Morecambe in a 5-0 loss to Barnsley on Sunday.

In League Two, Lachlan Brook came off in the 62nd minute for Crewe Alexandra in a 2-0 win over Doncaster on Sunday.

In the German 3. Liga, John Iredale came on for the second half and grabbed a goal for SV Wehen Wiesbaden in a 4-3 win over Zwickau on Saturday.

In Scotland, Lewis Miller was an unused substitute as Hibernian lost 3-1 to Motherwell on Sunday. 

In the Eerste Divisie, Josh Rawlins came on in the 82nd minute for Jong FC Utrecht in a 2-0 loss to PEC Zwolle on Saturday.

Dylan Ryan was an unused substitute in the Eerste Divisie as FC Den Bosch lost 2-0 to Willem II on Sunday.

In Croatia, Doni Grdić was an unused substitute as Sibenik lost 3-2 to Hadjuk Split on Saturday.
