Aussies Abroad: Socceroos prepare for crunch clashes with their clubs

Many of our Socceroos welcomed in 2021 across the globe and things are beginning to heat up as they reach the mid-point of their respective seasons. 

This weekend will see some continue their packed festive schedule, while for others, a briefer-than-usual winter break comes to an end.

Tom Rogic returned to action for Celtic as he was introduced in the 77th minute of the Hoops' 3-0 win over Dundee United last week. 

Saturday sees Rogic's side face one of the most significant Old Firm Derby clashes in recent memory, as they take on Rangers, who lead the Scottish Premiership by 16 points. 

Martin Boyle's Hibernian are currently in fourth position and will take on sixth-placed Livingston this weekend. 

Harry Souttar played another 90 minutes for Stoke City as they drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest. 

The Potters sit seventh in the English Championship ahead of an important meeting with fourth-placed Bournemouth on Saturday.

In League One, Kenny Dougall's Blackpool travel to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday. 

At the same time, Bailey Wright will be looking to continue his man of the match-winning form for Sunderland when they take on Northampton Town.

Ajdin Hrustic made his Bundesliga debut in Eintracht Frankfurt's last fixture and will be hoping to feature yet again when they take on high-flying Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. 

On Sunday, Aziz Behich's relegation-battling Kayserispor face a tall order when they host Turkish powerhouses Besiktas.

In the Saudi Pro League, Craig Goodwin started for Abha again as they enjoyed a 4-2 win over Al-Ain on Friday. 

Mitchell Duke's Al-Taawoun face a tough task in second-placed Al-Ahli on Saturday.
