Aussies Abroad: Milligan and Rogic locked in Scotland, big wins for Amini and Giannou

Tom Rogic and Mark Milligan locked horns as the Scottish Premier League's runaway leaders, Celtic, were held by Hibernian in a stalemate at Easter Road.

The Caltex Socceroo pair shared the pitch for around ten minutes as steely midfielder Milligan bustled for 70 minutes, while Hoops playmaker Rogic was introduced just after the hour mark as coach Neil Lennon looked to break the deadlock.

SATURDAY: Vukovic and Genk move a step closer to glory in Belgium
SUNDAY: Ryan clean sheet puts Brighton in reach of safety

The tactical switch almost worked for Lennon, as Rogic engineered some space to shoot from 20 yards out but he could only watch his effort skim agonisingly wide of the Hibs goal in the 0-0 draw.

Rogic will add to his medal collection if the Glasgow-based side can secure four points from their four remaining fixtures, while the Edinburgh outfit Hibs sit comfortably in mid-table at fifth position.

Another Caltex Socceroo was kept goalless as Mathew Leckie’s Hertha Berlin toiled to a 0-0 draw against the Bundesliga’s bottom club Hannover 96.

Leckie played through 76 minutes as the Old Lady controlled possession but were ultimately frustrated by the visitors, who have delayed relegation for another week.

Hannover’s fate in the German top flight seems to be sealed, as they sit 12 points adrift of safety with four games to play. Hertha are 11th, within striking distance of the top 10.

Mustafa Amini helped inspire AGF to a stunning comeback victory on the road against Vejle Boldklub in the Danish Superliga.

The hosts led 2-1 at half-time, but were down a player thanks to a red card to Allan Sousa. The Aarhus club hit back after the interval with Patrick Mortensen completing a hat-trick and Tobias Sana wrapping up a 4-2 win.

Apostolos Giannou’s AEK Larnaca upset Cypriot league leaders APOEL Nicosia 1-0 despite being reduced to ten men.

Acoran Barrera made the task even harder for the third-placed side when he was dismissed on 61 minutes. Five minutes later Mikel, Gonzalez’ strike stunned the visitors, as Giannou and company dug in to clinch victory.

James Jeggo and Austria Vienna battled back twice to secure a 2-2 draw with LASK Linz.

Brazilian striker Klauss put the away team in front on 22 minutes and Chrisoph Monschein hit back before half-time. Klauss netted again on 50 minutes, but Monschien squared it up again on 79 minutes.

The Dutch Eredivisie looks set to go down to the wire as PSV Eindhoven pulled level with Ajax Amsterdam on 77 points with three games remaining.
