Aussies Abroad: Hrustic could feature in Hellas Verona's Serie A relegation play-off

In the last weekend of action before our Socceroos meet in China for camp, Ajdin Hrustic's Hellas Verona will play a relegation play-off to decide their Serie A fate, while Alexander Robertson's Manchester City will be looking to complete the treble by lifting the UEFA Champions League.

Subway Socceroos

Starting in Norway, where Gianni Stensness came on for the second half, Nick D’Agostino came on in the 67th minute and Subway Olyroo Patrick Yazbek was on the bench on Thursday as they progressed in the Norweigan Cup with a 2-1 win against Fredrikstad FK.

The trio could feature again when they return to league action against Sarpsborg 08 FF on Monday at 1am (AEST), before Stensness teams up with Graham Arnold's side for the friendly clash against Argentina in China.

In the Japanese Emperor's Cup, Thomas Deng played a full match for Albirex Niigata in a 1-0 win over Reilac Shiga FC on Wednesday.

He could feature again on Sunday at 3pm (AEST) when they return to J1 League action against Kyoto Sanga.

In the K1 League, Harrison Delbridge was an unused substitute for Incheon United on Wednesday in their 1-1 draw with FC Seoul. The draw leaves Incheon in ninth position. 

He could be in action again when they face Suwon Bluewings on Sunday at 8pm (AEST).

In Italy, where Ajdin Hrustic could feature in Hellas Verona FC's Serie A relegation play-off against Spezia on Monday at 4:45am (AEST) at the neutral Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia (Sassuolo's home ground), before flying out to Beijing for that international friendly against the South Americans.

The two sides started the final day of the Serie A season level on points but could not be separated after both suffered defeats away from home.

The new relegation play-off rule was implemented by the league last year which meant play-offs would be used to decide Serie A’s winners and relegated clubs in situations where teams were level on points, tied in head-to-head results and head-to-head goals.

Over to Istanbul, where Alexander Robertson is a chance to be involved in the match day squad for the UEFA Champions League Final when Manchester City face Inter Millan on Sunday at 5am (AEST). 

Over to the MLS, Alex Gersbach could feature for Colorado Rapids on Sunday at 9:30am (AEST) when they face Orlando City while Brad Smith's Houston Dynamo FC face LAFC on Sunday at 10:30am (AEST). 

In the J1 League, Mitch Langerak is likely to be in goal for Nagoya Grampus on Sunday at 5pm (AEST) against Avispa Fukuoka.

Mitch Duke could also be in action in the J2 League when Machida Zelvia face V-Varen Nagasaki on Sunday at 3pm (AEST). Machida are seven points clear at the top of the table. 

Olyroos and Subway Young Socceroos

In the 2. Bundesliga play-out second leg, John Iredale came off the bench in the 70th minute for SV Wehen Wiesbaden  Arminia Bielefeld in a 2-1 win (6--1 aggregate) on Wednesday as they secured promotion to the German second division. 

Iredale came off the bench in the 72nd minute and scored a goal in a 4-0 win in the first leg on Saturday.

  • In the Primera Federación Final, Ryan Edwards could feature for Amorebieta in the second leg against Racing de Ferrol on Sunday 2am (AEST).
  • In the J2 League, Stefan Mauk could be in action when Fagiano Okayama face Tokyo Verdy on Sunday at 11pm (AEST). 
  • In the K1 League, Alex Grant is likely to be in action when Pohang Steelers face FC Seoul on Sunday at 7pm (AEST). Grant also played a full game on Tuesday as they beat Jeju 2-1. 
  • Aaron Calver's Gangwon also face Jeonbuk on Sunday at 5:30pm (AEST) in the K1 League. 
  • Elsewhere in the K1 League, Lachlan Jackson could be in action for Suwon FC against Daegu on Saturday at 5:30pm (AEST). 
  • In the K2 League, Patrick Flottmann could feature for Seongnam FC when they face Seoul E-Land on Sunday at 9pm (AEST). 
  • In the USL Championship, Panos Armenakas could feature for Phoenix Rising on Sunday at 12:30pm (AEST) against Oakland Roots SC.
