Franjic appeals to sponsors, says report

Brisbane Roar star Ivan Franjic had the highest number of media mentions of any Hyundai A-League during the World Cup, according to an iSentia report.

AdNews reports that a review into media coverage of the Socceroos at Brazil 2014 shows that established stars Tim Cahill and Mile Jedinak dominated.

Superstar Cahill led the way with almost 40,000 mentions across radio, TV, press, web news and social media.

Jedinak, the captain of the Socceroos, received roughly half that number.

However, coming in third was Franjic, a recent winner of the A-League with Brisbane Roar, and one of the new breed of Socceroos in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The attack-minded defender was forced to take an early flight home after an injury against Chile in the opening group game ruled him out of the World Cup. 

 ‘The Socceroos might be out of the Brazil World Cup, but the tournament has shown that there is significant potential for brands to get on board with sponsorships around certain players, particularity as the Asia Cup comes to Australia in January,” wrote AdNews.

“Tim Cahill, Mile Jedinak and Ivan Franjic are the most lucrative of the team's players, according to iSentia's review of media coverage throughout the World Cup,

“Franjic is most likely of the Australian based players to gain sponsorships following the Brazil World Cup, despite an injury.”

In fifth behind Mark Bresciano was Melbourne Victory’s Mark Milligan.
