Socceroos Abroad: Hunt for silverware continues, Scotland Aussies return

Aussies will continue to compete for more silverware as the season winds down in India, while the Scottish top flight has its first matches in the promotion and relegations groups. 

Titles also remain up for grabs for Aussies in England, Germany and Italy.

Dimitri Petratos (cap #593) notched another assist in a full game for Mohun Bagan as they lost the first league leg of their Indian Super League semi-final clash with Odisha FC 2-1. 

Jason Cummings (cap #626) also played from the 78th minute of Wednesday’s match for Mohun. The pair should both be involved on Monday at 12:00am (AEST) for the second leg with a chance to play in the final on the line.


In the Scottish Premiership, Kye Rowles (cap #622), Cameron Devlin (cap #625) and Nathaniel Atkinson (cap #620) might all start for Hearts as they travel to Kilmarnock on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST).

St Mirren’s Keanu Baccus (cap #628) and Ryan Strain (cap #624) face Rangers on Sunday at 9:30pm (AEST) in the same competition.

Meanwhile, Hibernian’s Martin Boyle (cap #599) and Lewis Miller (cap #635) could line up against St Johnstone’s Ryan McGowan (cap #546) when the teams clash on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST) in the Scottish Premiership.

Dylan McGowan (cap #590) looks set to start for Hamilton Academical on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST) when the side face Alloa Athletic in the Scottish League One.

Samuel Silvera (cap #634) played 86 minutes of Middlesbrough’s 4-3 loss to Leeds United on Tuesday (AEST) in the EFL Championship. The winger could start again on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST) for Middlesbrough’s away trip to Cardiff City. 

Also in the competition, Massimo Luongo (cap #571) and Cameron Burgess (cap #633) should be in action for Ipswich Town in their away tie with Hull City on Sunday at 5:00am (AEST). The side remain in the hunt for EFL Championship glory, two points behind Leicester City at the top.

Alessandro Circati (cap #637) is set to start again for Parma on Saturday at 10:00pm (AEST) against bottom side Lecco in Serie B. Circati’s Parma are still three points clear at the top of the competition with four matches left.

Kusini Yengi (cap #638) will target another goal to finish his EFL League One season with Portsmouth away to Lincoln on Saturday at 9:30pm (AEST).

Gethin Jones (cap #639) faces a tough clash for Bolton Wanderers against fellow promotion-chasers Peterborough United on Saturday at 9:30pm (AEST). Bolton sit in third but will likely need to ensure they do not lose to Peterborough in order to hold onto it.

Joe Gauci (cap #631) could be on the bench for Aston Villa on Sunday at 5:00am (AEST) when they host Chelsea in the English Premier league.

In the Eredivisie, Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) is likely to feature from the outset for Heracles in their visit to PEC Zwolle on Sunday at 8:15pm (AEST).

Also, Mathew Ryan (cap #555) should be the goalkeeper for AZ Alkmaar as they travel to NEC Nijmegen at the same time.

Finally, Garang Kuol (cap #627) might be on the bench for FC Volendam on Sunday at 10:30pm (AEST) in their away tie with Sparta Rotterdam.

Jackson Irvine (cap #568) and Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) look set to both start St Pauli’s home match with Hansa Rostock in 2. Bundesliga on Saturday at 2:30am (AEST).

Also, John Iredale (cap #640) is likely to come off the bench for Wehen Wiesbaden on Sunday at 9:30 pm (AEST) against Greuther Furth.

Jordan Bos (cap #632) made his return to the pitch for Westerlo in their 1-1 draw with OH Leuven on Wednesday morning in Belgium’s First Division A. The fullback will continue his recovery on Sunday at 4:45am (AEST) when Westerlo travel to Gent.


In Norway’s Eliteserien, Nick D’Agostino (cap #621), Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) and Gianni Stesness (cap #617) may all start for Viking’s trip to Odd on Monday at 3:15am (AEST).

James Holland (cap #508) played 17 minutes of Austria Wien’s 1-0 loss to WSG Tirol on Wednesday morning in the Austrian Bundesliga. Holland could get some more minutes for Austria Wien against Altach on Saturday at 3:30am (AEST).

Alex Gersbach (cap #587) was integral in Kalmar FF’s 2-1 win over Elfsborg on Tuesday morning in Allsvenskan. The defender assisted the winning goal in the 55th minute. Gersbach was taken off with an injury in the 36th minute of Friday’s 3-2 loss to GAIS for the side.

Fran Karacic (cap #607) played a full game for Rudes in their 2-0 loss to NK Varazdin on Tuesday morning in Croatia’s HNL. Karacic will likely start again on Sunday at 3:10 am (AEST) when Rudes travel to Hadjuk Split.

Kenny Dougall (cap #608) will play for Buriram Untied’s match with Muang Thong United on Saturday at 9:00pm (AEST) in the Thai League.

Mitch Duke (cap #559) might get some minutes for Machida Zelvia in their J1 League fixture against Jubilo Iwata on Saturday at 3:00pm (AEST).

Elsewhere, Mitch Langerak (cap #566) should start in goal when Nagoya Grampus travel to Urawa Red Diamonds on Sunday at 4:00pm (AEST).

Harrison Delbridge (cap #623) will target ending a run of two matches on the bench for Incheon United on Sunday at 3:00pm (AEST) as they take on Pohang Steelers in K League 1.

In Major League Soccer, Brad Smith (cap #575) could get minutes for Houston Dynamo on Sunday at 10:30am (AEST) for their away game against FC Dallas.

Nicholas Bilokapic made his first start for Peterborough United in the EFL League One since February in a 2-0 defeat against Cheltenham Town on Wednesday morning. The shot-stopper could start again when Peterborough host Bolton on Saturday at 9:30pm (AEST).

Nectarios Triantis is a doubt for Hibernian’s visit to St Johnstone on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST) in the Scottish Premiership.

Louis D'Arrigo was an unused substitute for Lechia Gdansk on Thursday as the side edged past Polonia Warszawa in the Polish I Liga. D’Arrigo could get some minutes on Sunday at 1:30am (AEST) when Lechia Gdansk travel to Stal Rzeszow.
