Where to watch your Caltex Socceroos in action this weekend

Adam Taggart goes in search of a third goal in three K-League games as four of your Caltex Socceroos prepare for league action this weekend.

Taggart’s eighth-placed Suwon Bluewings are five points off the championship playoff positions and have a home match against the team in 10th, Gyeongnam FC, on Saturday (8pm AEST).

Having scored in back-to-back road games against Jeonbuk Motors and Seoul FC, the Aussie striker will look to add to his seven goals in 14 games since arriving in Korea Republic from Hyundai A-League outfit Brisbane Roar in February 2019.

Sounders back in action

Brad Smith’s Seattle Sounders host local rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday at midday AEST as the Pacific north-west side return from a two-week international break.

Despite being situated either side of the US-Canada border, only the relatively small distance of 230kms separates the clubs. Third-placed Seattle will seek to extend the six-point advantage they hold over the 'Caps in the Western Conference.

Smith has turned out in 14 of the Sounders’ 16 Major League Soccer games in 2019, and came on as a sub in the 2-1 US Open Cup defeat against Portland Timbers a fortnight ago.

J-League heats up

Andrew Nabbout’s 10th-placed Urawa Red Diamonds travel to Oita Trinita (6th) on Sunday at 8pm AEST.

Nabbout was an unused substitute on Wednesday night during Urawa’s 3-0 Asian Champions League Round of 16 second-leg triumph against K-League side Ulsan on Wednesday.

That away win reversed the 2-1 first-leg loss at home to put the Reds into the Asian Champions League Quarter-Finals, 4-2 on aggregate.

A positive result for Nabbout’s team in their league clash would do Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper Mitch Langerak a favour. Langerak’s Nagoya Grampus lie one point back from Oita Trinita in seventh in the J-League and play 13th-placed Vissel Kobe at 7pm AEST on Sunday.
