Australia have secured a fifth consecutive quarter-final berth at the AFC Asian Cup, following a 4-0 victory against neighbours Indonesia.

An early own goal, a diving header from Boyle, a Goodwin volley and a Souttar strike was enough to progress, with the Subway Socceroos now looking ahead to either Saudi Arabia or South Korea in the quarter finals, having traversed a strong and determined Indonesia side.

Two changes were made to the side who concluded our group stage, with Bruno Fornaroli making his first start of the tournament, while Gethin Jones returned to his position at right-back.

Having settled into the tempo of the game early, Jackson Irvine shifted to the right where he capitalised on a loose carry from his Indonesia marker, before skipping past two defenders on his way to the penalty box.

A low cross from the St Pauli midfielder in the 12th minute, took a wicked deflection off the leg of Indonesia's Elkan Baggott, ending up in the back of the opponent's net.

A minute before half-time, the Socceroos pushed through the right hand side once again, this time through the tireless attacking runs from Gethin Jones. The Bolton full-back provided a delightful long sweeping cross to the far-post, finding the run of Martin Boyle.

Boyle dived forward, reaching the flight of the ball with his head to tap in his second goal of the tournament and Australia's second of the night.

Socceroo stalwarts Connor Metcalfe and Mitch Duke were introduced with half an hour to play, with the striker announcing his return to Asian Cup action after being rested in the previous match against Uzbekistan.

Assister for the second goal Gethin Jones was replaced in the 69th minute through injury, allowing Nathaniel Atkinson to be introduced for his second Asian Cup appearance.

Graham Arnold made his final changes with five minutes to play, with an attacking adjustment to help secure that third goal. Craig Goodwin made his return to play following an injury suffered in the first group tie, along with midfielder Aiden O'Neill.

The substitute paid immediate dividends, with the FIFA World Cup hero Craig Goodwin finding his first goal of the tournament in the 89th minute, volleying home after a teammate's deflected shot landed in his path.

To top off a convincing victory, Harry Souttar found himself on the end of a Craig Goodwin cross, heading home his first goal of the tournament, in injury time.
