Australia has been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™  after a 2-1 Round of 16 loss to Argentina on Sunday morning (AEDT).

Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez were on target for the Albiceleste before a Craig Goodwin's strike took a wicked deflection off Enzo Fernandez to throw the Socceroos a lifeline.

However, it was not to be as Australia's most successful FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end.
