Ultimate Guide: Everything you need to know about Australia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™

With less than a month to go until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ commences, here is all the information you need as the Subway Socceroos head to the globe’s biggest sporting event.

This will be Australia’s fifth-straight FIFA World Cup appearance and sixth overall.

The tournament officially kicks off on Monday, 21 November when host nation Qatar takes on Ecuador at 3:00am AEDT with the Final occurring on Monday, 19 December at 2:00am AEDT.

To qualify, Australia defeated Peru in a dramatic penalty shootout win in the FIFA intercontinental play-off back in June.

How to watch

Every match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™  – including all three of Australia’s group matches – will be shown LIVE and FREE on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Eight of the 64 matches from Qatar will also be broadcast LIVE and FREE on SBS VICELAND.

The squad

Our schedule

Australia is situated in Group D alongside reigning world champions France, Tunisia and Denmark. Incidentally, both France and Denmark were in the same group four years ago in Russia and will meet again next month.

All three of the Subway Socceroos' group stage fixtures will be at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
