Socceroos move up in the FIFA World Rankings

The Socceroos have moved up a number of places in the FIFA World Rankings after the latest edition was released on Thursday.

Graham Arnold's men returned to the pitch in June after a lengthy intermission, with the remaining games in Round 2 of the Asian Qualifiers postponed due to COVID-19.

The Socceroos flew to Kuwait City to play the rest of the games in a hub, winning all four matches to make it a 100% record in the passage to Round 3.

The four wins - 3-0 over Kuwait, 5-1 over Chinese Taipei, 3-0 over Nepal and 1-0 over Jordan - saw the Socceroos climb to 35th spot in the latest FIFA World Rankings, released on 12 August 2021.

It is the Socceroos' highest ranking in 10 years, back when they were ranked 23rd in the world in 2011.

Australia's highest ever position in the Men's rankings was in 2009, when the Socceroos were positioned 14th in the world under the late Pim Verbeek.

The Socceroos continue their Road to Qatar 2022 in September, having been drawn in Group A for the Round 3 Asian Qualifiers alongside Japan, Saudi Arabia, China PR, Oman, and Vietnam.
