Socceroos announce squad changes for China PR clash

Football Australia today advised of changes to the Socceroos’ squad for Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ qualifier against China PR in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Due to the knee injury sustained by defender Harry Souttar in last night’s match, Kuwait SC defender Ryan McGowan and Sunderland AFC defender Bailey Wright have both been called up for the game to be held on neutral territory.

As a result of these additions to the squad, Melbourne City FC forward Andrew Nabbout will return to his club ahead of tonight’s FFA Cup 2021 match between South Melbourne FC and Melbourne City FC at Lakeside Stadium.

Souttar had scans in Sydney this morning and is continuing to be assessed by the Socceroos’ medical staff. The Socceroos’ medical team are liaising with Stoke City, Souttar’s club, and a further update on his injury status will be provided in due course. Souttar, however, will not be fit to play in the UAE on Tuesday.
