Socceroos Abroad: Karacic debut, Boyle and co involved in early European action

Fran Karacic made his debut for Hajduk Split in midweek, while several Subway Socceroos continued their pre-season campaigns in Scotland - some with one eye on European qualification.

This weekend, Aussies across Europe ramp up their fitness as the new season fast approaches.

Here is a look at the latest Socceroos Abroad action.

In the UEFA Conference League, Fran Karacic (cap #607) came on in the 70th minute of Hajduk Split's 1-1 draw with Zira. It was the side's first leg of Round 2 qualification and marked Karacic's debut for Hajduk. 

In Europa League qualification, Martin Boyle (cap #599) played 83 minutes of Hibernian's 1-1 draw with Midtjylland on Friday in the first leg of Round 2 qualification.

Ryan Strain (cap #624) played a full game for Dundee United as they beat Una Strassen 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League qualification Round 2 clash. 

In the Scottish League Cup group stages, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played 73 minutes of Hearts' 4-0 win over Dumbarton on Thursday morning. Devlin could get more playing time against Sunderland on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST) in a friendly. 
 

 


Also in Scottish League Cup football, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos (cap #644) opened the scoring for Motherwell in their 3-0 win over Greenock Morton. Motherwell will now play in the next stage of the competition. 

In the Belgian Pro League, Ryan Teague (cap #649) could make his competitive debut for K.V. Mechelen against Zulte Waregem on Sunday at 2:15 am (AEST).

Gethin Jones (cap #639) started for Milton Keynes Dons as they lost 2-1 to Peterborough United on Wednesday. The defender will feature on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST) against Stevenage in another friendly. 

Awer Mabil (cap #597) started for CD Castellon on Wednesday in a friendly against Southampton. The side drew 1-1. The winger is likely to feature on Saturday at 7:00 pm (AEST) against Alaves in more friendly action. 

Kusini Yengi (cap #638) could feature for Aberdeen when they host Ipswich Town in friendly action on Saturday at 4:30 am (AEST). 

In the Danish Superliga, Mohamed Toure (cap #636) could start for Randers against AGF on Saturday at 3:00 am (AEST). 

In MLS, Kye Rowles (cap #622) should start on Sunday at 9:30 am (AEST) when DC United face Austin. 

Elsewhere in the competition, Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) is set to be in Nashville's squad for their away trip to San Diego on Saturday at 12:30 pm (AEST). 

Also, Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) could play when New York City travel to Dallas earlier in the day at 10:30 am (AEST). 

Finally, Brad Smith (cap #575) should be in Cincinnati's squad to take on Lionel Messi's Inter Miami on Sunday at 9:15 am (AEST). 

Portsmouth's Hayden Matthews (cap #648) should get minutes against Reading on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST). 

Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) could make his first appearance for Watford when they host Leyton Orient in a friendly on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST). 
 


Cameron Burgess (cap #633) will continue to build fitness for Swansea City against Exeter City on Saturday at 10:00 pm (AEST). 

In Korea's second tier, John Iredale (cap #640) could start on Sunday at 8:00 pm (AEST) as Seoul E-Land travel to Suwon Bluewings. 

In Serbia, Milos Degenek (cap #585) could start for FK Backa Topola in their away clash with Radnik Surdulica on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEST).
