Socceroos Abroad: Boyle bags brace against Rangers

Winger Martin Boyle headlined the performances for Subway Socceroos this weekend, playing an integral role as Hibernian held title-chasing Rangers to a draw.

Subway Socceroos

In the Scottish Premiership, Martin Boyle (cap #599) scored a brace in his full game for Hibernian as the side drew 3-3 with second-placed Rangers on Monday. Lewis Miller (cap #635) also played a full game for Hibs.


Elsewhere in the competition on Monday, Kye Rowles (cap #622) and Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played all of Hearts’ 1-0 win over Dundee United. Ryan Strain (cap #624) played a full game for Dundee.

Finally, Josh Nisbet (cap #642) played 75 minutes for Ross Country as they edged past Kilmarnock 1-0 on Monday morning.

In other news, Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) has signed on with Swiss Super League side Grasshopper on loan for the remainder of the season. Fellow Socceroos winger Awer Mabil (cap #597) also plays for the team. Grasshopper resume their season on January 19 at 4:00am (AEDT) against Sion.

 

In Ligue 1, Denis Genreau (cap #610) was subbed on in the 83rd minute of Toulouse’s 1-0 win over Lens on Monday. The midfielder almost found the net, striking the post with a close-range effort soon after coming on.

In the EFL Championship, Alexander Robertson (cap #630) played 83 minutes for Cardiff City as they shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday morning. Tom Glover was the goalkeeper for Middlesbrough, starting his third consecutive game. 

Also on Sunday, Callum Elder (cap #614) played all of Derby County’s 1-0 loss to Bristol City.

In the Scottish Championship, Ryan McGowan (cap #546) played a full game for Livingston in their 2-0 loss to Queen’s Park on Sunday.

Jason Davidson (cap #545) played all of Panserraikos’ 1-0 loss to Levadiakos on Monday in the Greek Super League.

Subway Olyroos

Nectarios Triantis put in another quality performance in midfield for Hibernian in the side’s 3-3 draw with Rangers on Monday. The 21-year-old won all his aerial and ground duels and made three interceptions.
