Socceroos Abroad: Another Boyle brace, Burgess clean sheet

There were more strong performances in Scotland from some of our Socceroos abroad, while Aussies also advanced to the next round of England's FA Cup.

Subway Socceroos

Martin Boyle (cap #599) carried on his strong form, notching another brace for Hibernian in their 3-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership. Boyle has nine goals this season, just two away from his total last campaign.

Nectarios Triantis - who has represented Australia at U20 and U23 level - put in another superb performance, scoring in Hibernian’s 3-1 win against Motherwell. In addition to his goal, the central midfielder won six of his seven ground duels and succeeded in all three of his dribbles, earning the club's Player of the Match award in the process.

 


Lewis Miller (cap #635) was subbed on in the 62nd minute for Hibs.

 

Cameron Burgess (cap #633) played the full 90 minutes and helped keep a clean sheet for Ipswich Town as they beat Bristol Rovers 3-0 on Monday in the FA Cup. Massimo Luongo (cap #571) also played a full game for Ipswich.

 

Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Joe Gauci (cap #631) was on the bench for Aston Villa as they came from a goal down to beat West Ham United 2-1 on Saturday morning.

Also, Riley McGree (cap #609) played 76 minutes of Middlesbrough’s 1-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday morning. Tom Glover was the goalkeeper for Middlesbrough.

On Saturday morning, Aiden O’Neill (cap #629) played a full game for Standard Liege as they beat Kortrijk 1-0 in Belgium’s First Division A.

Elsewhere in the competition, Jordan Bos (cap #632) played a full game for Westerlo in their 2-1 loss to St. Truiden on Sunday.

In the Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) played the entirety of St. Pauli’s 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday morning.

Dimitri Petratos (cap #593) came on in the 87th minute for Mohun as well.

Denis Genreau (cap #610) was subbed on in the 69th minute of Toulouse’s 2-1 loss to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Monday.

In Eredivisie, Max Balard played 65 minutes of NAC Breda’s 4-2 loss to SC Heerenveen on Monday.

Maty Ryan (cap #555) was on the bench for Roma’s 2-2 draw with Bologna on Monday in Serie A.

In the Scottish Premiership, Ryan Strain (cap #624) played a full game for Dundee United in their 1-0 win over St. Mirren on Sunday.

 


Also in Scotland’s top flight on Sunday, Josh Nisbet (cap #642) played 85 minutes for Ross County as they lost 4-1 to Celtic.

Finally, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played all of Hearts’ 0-0 draw with Aberdeen on Monday.

In the Greek Super League, Jason Davidson (cap #545) played a full game for Panserraikos as they pulled off a 2-2 draw with title-chasing Panathinaikos on Monday.

In the Indian Super League, Jamie Maclaren (cap #584) scored the winner for Mogun Bagan SG in their 1-0 win over East Bengal on Sunday. Maclaren played 87 minutes, while Jason Cummings (cap #626) played 75 minutes for the side.

Kenny Dougall (cap #608) played all of Buriram United’s 3-2 loss to Bangkok United on Monday in Thai League. Buriram remain six points clear of their opponents at the top of the table.

In Serie B, Jahce Novello made the bench for Cosenza Calcio as they drew 2-2 with Mantova on Monday.
