Scott Jamieson announces retirement from football

Scott Jamieson has announced his retirement from football after the Isuzu Ute A-League 2022/23 Grand Final.

The 34-year-old became Subway Socceroos cap number 522 after his international debut in January 2009 against Indonesia in an AFC Asian Cup Qualifier and would later make a further three appearances for his country, with his last occurring in 2012.

Jamieson also represented Australia U-17s three times.

At club level, the defender would go on to enjoy a professional career which spanned 17 years, and two overseas stints starting at Bolton Wanderers and subsequently with Sweden's IFK Goteborg in 2016/17.

However, Jamieson is best remembered for his time in the A-League Men's competition where he ranks sixth on the all-time appearances list, having represented: Adelaide United, Sydney FC, Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers and indeed City.

Jamieson captained the team to three consecutive premierships and one championship in 2021 and will be hoping to secure one last trophy as a player this Saturday.

“He’s going to continue be a very important part of the team and we will continue to learn from him through the leadership qualities that he will bring to the group.”
