Middlesbrough snare Aussie duo Glover and Silvera

English Championship side Middlesbrough FC have announced the signings of goalkeeper Tom Glover and forward Samuel Silvera.

Glover departed City at the end of his contract after four seasons at the club in search of a European move which has subsequently come to fruition, putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

The 25-year-old was also recently called up to the Subway Socceroos for June friendly against Argentina but was an unused substitute.

Meanwhile, Silvera, 22, also joins Boro on a three-year contract from the Central Coast Mariners, with the undisclosed fee paid to the Gosford outfit a club record.

Silvera, who has represented Australia at the U23 level, scored eight goals and registered five assists during the A-League Men 2022/23 season as the Mariners went on to clinch their first championship in a decade, thrashing Glover's City in the decider.

The pair will link up with fellow Australian and incumbent Subway Socceroo in Riley McGree, who has flourished since his arrival at Riverside Stadium in January 2022.
