Maclaren happy to have Milligan on Hibs adventure

Jamie Maclaren says Caltex Socceroos veteran Mark Milligan is a ‘fantastic addition’ for Hibernian.

Milligan signed for the Edinburgh club in August and will now rub shoulders with his Australian colleague in the Scottish Premiership.

After his exit from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ahli, Maclaren is certain Milligan will be a big hit at Easter Road.

“The club were really keen on getting him and sometimes as a player you just want that sort of feeling," Maclaren told www.socceroos.com.au.

“Millsy was definitely wanted by Hibs. Thankfully it’s over the line and after this camp he’ll come back with me to Edinburgh and I’ll be able to show him around.

“He’ll definitely be a fantastic addition to my club.”

The addition of his Caltex Socceroos teammate is the perfect supplement to a great start to the season for Maclaren, who is feeling right back at home in Scotland after rejoining Hibernian on loan from Darmstadt.

Maclaren has become a fan favourite during his time at the club as shown by rapturous terrace celebrations following his late equaliser in Hibernian’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen two weeks ago.

“The fans have been great to me and as a player you want to give that back,” he said.

“As a striker you want to score early on this season, for us it starts to play on your mind.

“Having played about three games now, it’s always nice to start early. As a striker you can’t beat scoring goals and hitting the back of the net and it’s always nice to do it at home.”
