Joeys primed to take on the world in Brazil at FIFA U-17 World Cup™

The Joeys are heading to next week’s FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019™ in Brazil with the belief they can defeat any team which stands in their path.

Australia has been drawn in Group B against Nigeria, Hungary and Ecuador in Group B of the 18th edition of the biennial competition which pits the world’s best youth players against each other.

Joeys Train In Brazil

Trevor Morgan’s squad are putting the final touches on their preparations in a pre-tournament camp in Chile ahead of their opening encounter against the South Americans, Ecuador, on Sunday, 27 October at 10am AEDT.

As the Joeys get set to move on to the host city of their first two games, Goiânia, in Brazil’s Central-West region, captain Ryan Teague feels the Joeys could not be more ready.

“One quality that really stands out is the team chemistry and bonding we have,” Teague said.

“We are going to go out there with the mindset that we can win every game, that we can ultimately win the World Cup.

“We are going to show no fear to no team and we’ll show everyone what we can do.”

Head coach Morgan insists that any football fans that take the time to tune into the global showpiece will see an Australian team to be proud of.

“When the boys come together and when they are thrown a challenge they revel in it,” said Morgan.

“We try to encourage them to back themselves and to play on the front foot.

“I’d like to think people that turn the television on will have a smile on their face seeing Australian kids expressing themselves.”

Western Sydney Wanderers striker Ali Auglah explains how the Joeys are united on and off the pitch heading into the biggest tournament of their budding careers.
