The Joeys will face Vietnam to decide the Group H winners of the 2020 AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers after a 1-0 win over Timor-Leste on Friday night (AEST).
Captain Joshua Rawlins scored the only goal of the game in first half stoppage-time to seal Australia’s third win in three qualifying matches.
The result has the Joeys and Vietnam tied on nine points at the top of their group heading into the fourth and final clash of qualifying.
Vietnam’s superior goal difference mean the Joeys need to defeat their opponents to finish in top spot and be one the 11 group winners who gain automatic qualification to the 2020 tournament.
The four best runners-up and host nation Bahrain secure the remaining five places.
Australia face Vietnam on Sunday night (10pm AEST).
