Match 1: Argentina v Australia
Date: Thursday, 22 July 2021
Venue: Sapporo Dome, Sapporo, Japan
Kick-off: 7:30pm local; 8:30pm AEST

Argentina are a familiar opponent for Australia at Olympic level, and will be coached by a recognisable name at Tokyo 2020.

Sergio Batista will take charge of the South American nation at the tournament, looking to replicate the feat of his brother Fernando who coached the side to gold at Beijing 2008.

That tournament was Australia's last appearance at the Games, where they came up against an Albiceleste outfit boasting the likes of Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero.

With Argentina having qualified for the final of the Copa America, there is minimal overlap with their Olympic squad, which does not feature the likes of Messi.

Bayer Leverkusen attacker Lucas Alario was expected to feature in the Argentina squad, but the Bayer Leverkusen forward has withdrawn due to injury. 28-year-old goalkeeper Jeremías Ledesma will serve as an overage player for the nation that enjoyed victory at the 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament and the Pan American Games.

Match 2: Australia v Spain
Date: Sunday, 25 July 2021
Venue: Sapporo Dome, Sapporo, Japan
Kick-off: 7:30pm local; 8:30pm AEST
Broadcast: Seven Network

Spain arrive at Tokyo 2020 with a couple of eye-catching overage selections to go with a handful of emerging stars who have recently taken part in the nation's Euro 2020 semi-final finish.

Real Madrid’s creative spark Marco Asensio and midfielder Dani Ceballos, who spent last season with Arsenal, join Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino as the La Roja's overage complement.

Dani Olmo, Pedri, Mikel Oyarzabal, Eric Garcia, Pau Torres and Unai Simon are all players to watch, having played their part in the senior national team's recent camapaign.

Match 3: Australia v Egypt
Date: Wednesday, 28 July 2021
Venue: Miyagi Stadium, Rifu, Japan
Kick-off: 8pm local; 9pm AEST
Broadcast: Seven Network

The headline ommission from Egypts Olympic squad is Mo Salah, who will not take place in his second Men's Football Tournament after his participation was not approved by his club side Liverpool.

Either way, the African nation are reinforced in defence by 32-year-old goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy (32), who recently won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly and 3-year-old centre-back Ahmed Hegazi who has European club experience and represented his nation at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.

Other notable players taking part in the tournament include Daniel Alves (Brazil), Florian Thauvin (France), Andre-Pierre Gignac (France), Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast), Nadiem Amiri (Germany) and Maximilian Arnold (Germany).
