Australia’s Young Socceroos will travel to Chinese Taipei today (Sunday) ahead of their three Group H qualification matches for the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship.
Head Coach Gary van Egmond has had an extended squad in camp in the City of Gold Coast for a training camp over the past week, however has now finalised his 23-player roster for upcoming matches against Laos (6/11), Macau (8/11), and Chinese Taipei (10/11) in Kaohsiung over the next seven days.
Twenty-one of Australia’s representatives for the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers hail from Hyundai A-League clubs, while two players – goalkeeper Kai Calderbank-Park and midfielder Alberto Del Grosso – are aligned with clubs abroad.
Australia can qualify for the 16-nation 2020 AFC U-19 Championship, which will be hosted next October in Uzbekistan, by winning their group or by finishing as one of the four-best second-place sides across Asia’s eleven qualification groups.
The 2020 AFC U-19 Championship will serve as the qualification process for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Indonesia 2021.
