After an 18 month absence, the Socceroos have now returned to camp and are ready to hit the ground running as they prepare for a hectic run of fixtures in early June.

Graham Arnold has named a 31-man squad for the upcoming matches, with players set to progressively join the preparations as their club committments come to a close.

11 of the 31 players in the squad have arrived in the Middle East to begin to prepare and acclimatise ahead of next month’s fixtures, with six more set to join the Socceroos at varying stages over the coming week.

The remaining 14 players will assemble with the squad either just prior to the team’s transit to Kuwait, or in Kuwait City itself.

Stoke City's Harry Souttar was among the first to arrive this week. The 22-year-old, who has scored four goals in two international appearances to date, is relishing the chance to re-unite with his Socceroos teammates.

"We just had a good little session, it feels like forever since we have all seen each other, so we're just catching up on what life's been like for everyone," the defender said.

"I think we just want to try and stay fit so we can be ready to win these four games, but when you come into camp we have fun, that's a big part of the culture here.

"But when it's time to train we really work hard and that's what shows on the pitch."

Riley McGree is one of the seven uncapped players selected in the squad and is taking the opportunity to impress as he stakes his claim for an international debut, as well as a potential position in Australia's squad for Tokyo 2020.

"It's been a while since I've been here, so it's great to be back and see some familiar faces," the Birmingham City midfielder said.

"Hopefully I can continue to work hard here to get a cap and make sure we win all of these games.

"That (a Socceroos debut) would be a massive honour, representing this country at any level is a great honour but especially at the top level would be a very proud moment for me."
