Craig Goodwin returns to Adelaide United

Adelaide United have confirmed the return of Socceroos forward Craig Goodwin to the club on loan for the remainder of the A-League season.

The 29-year-old departed the City of Churches in July 2019 and went on to make nearly 50 Saudi Pro League appearances for Al-Wehda and Abha.

Goodwin returns home for a third stint with the Reds, where he has scored 25 goals in 92 matches to date. During his most recent spell, he scored a memorable brace that inspired Adelaide to 2018 FFA Cup Final success.

The left-winger has five international caps to name and was a member of the 24-player squad who travelled to Amman for the Socceroos' most recent FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Jordan.

Goodwin shared with Adelaide United how he was excited by the opportunity to pull on a Reds shirt again.

“I’m very excited to be coming home to Adelaide United for the remainder of this season," he said.

“It’s always a special feeling pulling on the Reds shirt and to be playing in front of family and friends weekly.

“The boys have had a mixed start to the season, but have put some good performances in that we’ll look to build on and have a successful year.”

Adelaide United Director of Football Bruce Djite said: “Bringing someone of Craig’s quality back to Adelaide is fantastic for the Club.

“Not only will his A-League experience help the younger players, but he is another great character for the changeroom and adds a lot of quality to the squad.

“Craig’s been playing regularly overseas the last few months, so he’s fit and ready to start playing matches once he’s released from quarantine and reintegrated into the squad.”

Goodwin will reclaim the number 11 shirt for the Reds and will arrive in Adelaide once he has completed his mandatory quarantine.
