Craig Goodwin concludes loan spell with Abha

Socceroos winger Craig Goodwin confirmed overnight that his loan deal with Saudi Premier League club Abha has come to an end. 

However the 29-year-old is set to remain in the competition as he returns to his parent club Al-Wehda.

During the 2019/20 season at Al-Wehda, the Australian amassed seven assists and four goals, starting all but one of their 30 games. His efforts also helped the club seal AFC Asian Champions League qualification.

After making the off-season loan move to Abha the 2020/21 campaign has seen Goodwin registered two goals in 16 matches.

Abha and Al-Wehda have an identical record so far this season, with six wins, three draws and seven losses apiece. They currently sit in ninth and tenth place respectively, eleven points adrift of league leaders Al Shabab. 

As Goodwin returns to his parent club he will also reunite with fellow Australian and three-time Socceroo Dimitri Petratos, who has scored six goals in 16 appearances so far this season.
