Caltex Socceroos veteran unites with Maclaren at Hibernian

Hibernian have signed Caltex Socceroos veteran Mark Milligan on a two-year deal, subject to securing a work permit.

The 33-year-old was most recently on the books of Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and will now link up with national team colleague Jamie Maclaren at the Scottish outfit.

“I am delighted to have joined Hibernian," Milligan told the club's official website.

“I know it’s a big club with an exciting young squad, and I hope to be able to add to that with my experience.

“Jamie (Maclaren) obviously did well here last year and gave Hibs a bit of a profile back home – everyone there is pretty familiar with the Scottish game and I’m excited to now be a part of that.

“The team have had a good start to the season with the run in Europe and I’m looking forward to joining up with the squad and getting going.”

Milligan was an influential figure for the Caltex Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup in Russia and is the eighth signing of the summer at Easter Road.

Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has lost a trio of key midfielders in John McGinn, Dylan McGeouch and Scott Allan this transfer window.

The former Melbourne Victory man will bring significant resolve and experience to the engine room to offset these departures.
