Boyle wants to make new memories with the Socceroos at Asian Cup

After missing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ due to a ruptured ACL, Martin Boyle is keen to prove what he can do for the Subway Socceroos at a major tournament.

Luckily for him, the Socceroos are just days away from kicking off their Asian Cup campaign in Qatar and Boyle is ready to go.

“I’ve had my injury troubles, but this is a clean slate for me,” he said.

“I'm bringing the energy now, and I want to prove as much possible that I'm keen to play and show everyone what I'm capable of.”

It may not come as much of a surprise to the fans, but Boyle has confirmed, the vibes are high in the camp at the moment.

“We've settled in perfectly; we've had a friendly and a lot of training sessions and the vibes feel really good at the moment, and we just can't wait to get started,” he said.

But the good vibes are not distracting from the team’s main goal - go out there to win.

“We're a really good team where everyone is collectively together and ideally, we want to win every game that we compete in,” Boyle added.

“It is cup football, anything can happen but if we can prepare right and we can play the way we know we can, we feel like we can beat anyone on the day.”

Boyle is set to have some of his family fly out to Qatar to watch the tournament and he has expressed how excited he is to have his two daughters watching him in the green and gold.

“I'm absolutely buzzing at the moment, I can't wait,” he said.

“I think my excitement levels are through the roof, my family are flying over so I am really excited. My two kids are coming over so it will be the first time they will see me playing for Australia so just counting down the days until the game.

“The support that they have showed me through the years is just like nothing else. They always put a smile on my face.”

The forward also discussed his relationship with Graham Arnold, someone who he has a lot of respect for as a coach and manager.

Boyle said: “In terms of managers I have had the pleasure of working with, he is definitely up there as a top guy and a top manager.

“He has shown belief in me, and I always say every time I put on that jersey it is not always just for the nation, it's for me to repay him back for everything that he's done for me.”

He added that his time with Arnold and the Socceroos has given him so many great memories, but he wants to make some more in this Asian Cup.

“There are obviously so many great memories (with the Socceroos), but I want to create new memories here and hopefully this will be a good, successful tournament.”
