Aussies Abroad Wrap: McGree, Devlin and Metcalfe score, Mooy and Souttar assist

In a jam-packed weekend of Aussies Abroad action, Riley McGree and Connor Metcalfe continued their impressive form with another goal, Cameron Devlin returned from injury with a goal while Aaron Mooy, Harry Souttar and Awer Mabil registered assists.

United Kingdom

Starting in Scotland, where Aaron Mooy started and registered his seventh assist in all competitions before coming off in the 63rd minute as Celtic cruised into the Scottish Cup quarter finals with a thumping 5-1 win over St Mirren on Sunday. 

Mooy assisted Daizen Maeda's opener in the 16th minute by flashing a ball across the face of the goal for the Japanese international to slot home. 

Keanu Baccus and Ryan Strain also started for St Mirren. Baccus came off in the 71st minute while Strain came off in the 77th minute.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Cameron Devlin returned to the Heart of Midlothian team by coming off the bench in the 64th minute and scoring a goal as Hearts beat Hamilton Academical to advance in the Scottish Cup.

Devlin played a pass forward and continued his run into the box to slot home from close range with 11 minutes remaining to seal the victory. 

Kye Rowles and Garang Kuol were unused substitutes while Nathaniel Atkinson came off the bench in the 73rd minute.

Dylan McGowan also started and played 90 minutes for Hamilton. 

Elsewhere in the Scottish Cup fifth round, Aziz Behich came off the bench in the 57th minute as Dundee United crashed out of the cup with a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Over to England, where Harry Souttar made his King Power Stadium debut for Leicester City as the Foxes recorded a dominant come-from-behind 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

Souttar played 90 minutes and cut a composed figure, containing Harry Kane’s presence alongside Wout Faes for the entire match. Souttar also assisted the third goal for Kelechi Iheanacho with an exquisite long ball.

In the Championship, Riley McGree played 90 minutes and continued his impressive form with another goal as he sealed Middlesbrough's 3-1 victory over Cardiff City on Sunday.

McGree coolly slotted home the third goal in injury time to earn Michael Carrick's men their fifth victory in six games and kept them in pole position for a play-off place.

It marked the midfielder's fifth goal of the campaign, as Boro eye a late-season promotion push. 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Kenny Dougall made his 100th start for Blackpool in a 0-0 draw against Rotherham United on Sunday. Bailey Wright was an unused substitute for Rotherham. 

Callum Elder also started and played 64 minutes as Hull City drew 0-0 with Stoke City on Sunday in the Championship.

Europe

Starting in Germany, where Connor Metcalfe started again, played 80 minutes and scored the winner in St Pauli's 1-0 win over FC Kaiserslautern in the 2. Bundesliga on Sunday. 

This time, Metcalfe was deployed on the right where he found some space in behind and cooly slotted the ball home with his left foot in the 72nd minute to hand St Pauli all three points and score his second goal in two matches. 

Jackson Irvine also started and played 90 minutes.

In the Netherlands, Maty Ryan started again and kept his first clean sheet as AZ Alkmaar beat Excelsior 5-0 on Saturday to remain second in the Eredivisie.

Since joining the club, Ryan has registered a passing accuracy of 82% - the second-highest of any goalkeeper in the competition, 

Awer Mabil came off the bench in the 71st minute and as AC Sparta Prague beat Bohemians 6-2 on Monday in the Czech First League. He came away with an assist to his name, after laying the ball off for Martin Minchev to finish off his side's sixth. 

In France, Denis Genreau was introduced for his first Ligue 1 appearance since October, after recovering from injury.  The midfielder played 27 minutes of Toulouse's 3-1 victory over Rennes.

Jason Davidson also played 90 minutes as KAS Eupen beat Mechelen 2-1 in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday. The result moves Eupen into 14th position, five points above the relegation zone.

United Kingdom

In the English Championship, goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic came off the bench in the 68th minute to replace Tomas Vaclik who had to leave the beach in discomfort. 

Although, Bilokapic could not do anything to stop Wigan Athletic scoring in the 82nd minute and stealing all three points with a 1-0 victory on Sunday. 

In League Two, Lachlan Brook came on in the 84th minute as Crewe Alexandra drew 2-2 with Crawley Town on Sunday.

In Premier League 2, Cameron Peupion played another 90 minutes as Brighton & Hove Albion FC U21 lost 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur U21 on Sunday. 

Europe

Dylan Ryan was an unused substitute in the Eerste Divisie as FC Den Bosch beat Jong Ajax 4-2 on Saturday. 

In Germany's 3. Liga, John Iredale came off the bench in the 82nd minute as SV Wehen Wiesbaden beat Bayreuth FC 3-2 on Monday.
