The latest weekend of matches saw a couple of our Socceroos make their introduction to new competitions, while Tom Rogic and Celtic continued their purple patch in front of goal.
Rogic continued contributing in the final third as Celtic kicked off their Scottish Cup campaign in style, while Riley McGree and Awer Mabil made their long-awaited club debuts in both England and Turkey.

England & Scotland
It was a special night for both Riley McGree and new side Middlesbrough, as the Socceroos midfielder made his league debut for the Championship club in a match where Boro solidified their promotion aspirations.
McGree started his side's match against Derby County on the substitutes bench and was introduced in the 66th minute as the team from the North-East were coasting toward a 4-1 victory.
Middlesbrough started the weekend sitting just below the promotion play-off positions on goal difference, yet now find themselves in the top six for the first time this season.
Tom Rogic was back amongst the headlines, with a superb assist during Celtic's 4-0 victory over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup. Scotland's league leaders are now 21 matches unbeaten in all competitions and potentially have another piece of silverware on the horizon, if their cup campaign continues in the same fashion during the later rounds.
They have won nine games on the bounce, scoring 29 and conceding just five.
Rogic was later subbed off in the 66th minute by Ange Postecoglou with the Hoops firmly in control of the match, as their focus shifts back to the league next weekend.
Germany
Jackson Irvine's side FC St Pauli now have promotion to the Bundesliga firmly in their sights, after a crucial 3-2 away victory at mid-table side Jahn Regensburg. Irvine played a pivotal role in St Pauli's midfield, starting and finishing the match while helping set up two of the side's goals.
The Hamburg outfit did come into the match in poor form, having failed to win a league match in over a month. But such is the tight nature of the German second division, one win has allowed Irvine's team to leapfrog title rivals Darmstadt to become 2. Bundesliga leaders once again.
Eintracht Frankfurt's hope of European football took a dent, after being beaten at home 2-0 to Wolfsburg. Socceroos midfielder Ajdin Hrustic started the match on the bench, eventually being introduced in the 85th minute, as Frankfurt looked for two late goals to square the ledger.
Brandon Borrello was in the starting line-up for Dynamo Dresden's 0-0 draw away at Paderborn. It was a frustrating night for both sides, with neither being able to distance themselves any further from the relegation zone. Despite his efforts, Borello was eventually substituted early in the second half.
Mainland Europe
Awer Mabil has wasted no time in establishing himself within the Kasimpasa set-up, with the winger making his club debut off the bench, just days after signing. Mabil helped secure an important 2-2 result at home to Alanyaspor, after the visitors led prior to the winger's 56th introduction. After a slow start to the season, the result helped Kasimpasa continue their climb into Süper Lig's mid-table.
Meanwhile, Aziz Behich was in the starting line-up for Giresunspor, in a valiant yet disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Behich performed admirably in tough circumstances, with the defender brought off in the 85th minute, as Giresunspor looked to flood the field with attackers late on.
In Belgium, Trent Sainsbury was involved in the full 90 minutes for club side Kortrijk, in a devastating 2-1 defeat away to last place Beerschot. Sainsbury's side had hoped that the match would spell an unwanted two-month absence for a league win. The loss was made harder to swallow for the fact that Kortrijk took the lead within ten minutes, yet were eventually run down.
James Jeggo also tasted defeat over the weekend, narrowly losing out to Belgian powerhouse side Gent 1-0. Jeggo was solid on his first start for Eupen, with the midfielder starting and finishing the match, while all other attacking options were eventually withdrawn late in the game.
Asia & Middle East
The weekend of football kicked off early on Friday morning, as Martin Boyle backed up a memorable debut for side Al-Faisaly with a 90 minute effort in his side's 0-0 draw against Al-Feiha. The point was enough to see Al-Faisaly finally climb out of Saudi-Arabia's relegation places, highlighting the immediate impact that January transfers like Boyle have already made.
Australia - Socceroos At Home
Australian captain Mathew Leckie has shown his class once again for Melbourne City, with the forward scoring two and being involved in pretty much everything for the Cityzens, as they triumphed in Parramatta 3-1 over the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Leckie's club and international teammates Jamie Maclaren, Connor Metcalfe and Marco Tilio were also pivotal to the victory that sees City climb to the A-League Men's top-two.
Meanwhile, Rhyan Grant played a full 90 minutes on his return for Sydney FC, as the Sky Blues drew 1-1 to top-of-the-table Western United on a wet night in Kogarah.
