Suwon started the match only a point ahead of Sangju but the visitors soon went ahead in rain-drenched conditions when Taggart’s shot was parried and the Aussie's strike partner Han Seok-hee followed up to open the scoring after eight minutes.
Perth-born Taggart put the seal of the win when he pounced on a rebound on 69 minutes to make it 11 K-League goals since his move from Hyundai A-League outfit Brisbane Roar.
Suwon are on a streak of five K-League matches undefeated and have racked up three straight wins as they seek to cement their place in the top six.
Next up for Lee Lim-saeng’s side is a home match against ninth-placed Seongnam at Suwon’s Big Bird Stadium on Sunday 21 July.
Meanwhile, in over in Japan, Mitch Langerak’s ninth-placed Nagoya Grampus Eight slipped to a 3-0 defeat against the J-League’s sixth-placed side, Cerezo Osaka.
