FCM dominated the first half but the visitors came closest to breaking the deadlock when Wolves defender Erik Sviatchenko headed against his own crossbar on 48 minutes.

Esbjerg has the best of the second half and the home fans had goalkeeper Jesper Hansen to thank for keeping them in the game.

And as the game entered the last minute, the trickery of Brazilian attacker Evander opened up a chance for Anderson to fire the decisive goal to give the 2018/19 Danish Cup champions the perfect start to the new campaign.
