Aussies Abroad Preview: Mooy vs Boyle in Scotland, Duke chasing promotion to J1 League

In another bumper weekend of Aussies Abroad action, Aaron Mooy faces off against Martin Boyle in Scotland while Mitch Duke's Fagiano Okayama are chasing promotion to the J1 League with two games remaining.

United Kingdom

Starting in Scotland, Aaron Mooy could be in action when Celtic host Martin Boyle's Hibernian on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).  Mooy came on in the 66th minute as Celtic lost 2-0 to RB Leipzig in the Champions League loss on Wednesday.

Celtic top the Scottish Premiership after nine matches while Hibs sit in third and will be looking to bounce back following defeat in their last outing. 

Fresh from scoring his first Dundee United goal, played another 90 minutes and Aziz Behich scored the winner as United beat Hibernian 1-0 on Wednesday. Behich's 11th-minute strike proved the difference, playing a one-two before skipping past his man and producing a fine finish with the outside of his boot.

Boyle also started and played 90 minutes. Behich will be in action again when Dundee United play Ross County on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

Keanu Baccus and Ryan Strain St Mirren's will be hoping to bounce back from defeat in their last match against Rangers when they take on Kilmarnock on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

After scoring a spectacular volley with his wrong foot in Heart of Midlothian's last league match, Nathaniel Atkinson's Heart of Midlothian will also be hoping to continue his impressive form alongside the returning Cameron Devlin when Hearts face Aberdeen on Monday at 1am (AEDT). 

Devlin started and played 90 minutes as Hearts lost 5-1 to Fiorentina in the Europa League on Friday while Atkinson also started but lasted barely two minutes before going down with an apparent foot or ankle problem.

In England, Tom Rogic will be hoping for to make another Championship appearance when West Bromwich Albion face Reading on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

Riley McGree's Middlesbrough will also face off against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday at 1am (AEDT) in the Championship. 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Kenny Dougall's Blackpool also take on Sheffield United Sunday at 1am (AEDT) while Bailey Wright's Sunderland take on Wigan Athletic on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).

In Olyroos Abroad news, goalkeeper Nick Bilokapic could feature on the bench when Huddersfield face Rotherham at 10:30pm (AEDT) on Sunday. 

In League Two, goalkeeper Jacob Chapman could feature for Salford City when they face Bradford City on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).

Lachlan Brook could also appear in League Two as Crewe Alexandra take on Tranmere on Saturday at 5:45am (AEDT). 

Asia & The Middle East

Starting in the J2 League, Mitch Duke's Fagiano Okayama face Blaublitz Akita on Sunday at 4pm (AEDT) as they chase promotion to the J1 League with two games remaining. 

Fagiano need maximum points from their remaining two games and Yokohama FC to drop points if they are to secure a top-two finish and automatic promotion. A third-place finish will ensure a play off with the third-bottom team from the J1 League. 


Elsewhere in the J2 League, Thomas Deng could be in action when Albirex Niigata take on Tokyo Verdy on Saturday at 4pm (AEDT). 

Deng did not feature in Albirex's last match but his side wrapped up promotion to the J1 League next season for the first time in 6 years. 


In the J1 League, Adam Taggart started and played 56 minutes as Cerezo Osaka lost 4-0 to FC Tokyo on Wednesday.

Taggart could be in action again when Cerezo face Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday at 6pm (AEDT). Cerezo are fourth in the J1 League as they chase a top-three finish and an AFC Champions League place. 

In the K1 League, Harrison Delbridge's Incheon United face Alex Grant's Pohang Steelers on Sunday at 9pm (AEDT) in a play-off as the Final Rounds continue. 

In Qatar, where Trent Sainsbury could be in action when Al-Wakrah face Al Ahli on Saturday at 3am (AEDT) in the final Qatar Stars Cup group stage match.

Europe

Starting in Denmark, where Mat Ryan's FC Copenhagen take on Brøndby IF on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT). Ryan was an unused substitute against Manchester City on Wednesday as Copenhagen drew 0-0 with the English Champions in the Champions League.

Elsewhere in Denmark, Joel King's Odense Boldklub face Viborg on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT) as they look to bounce back from a 1-1 draw against Silkeborg on Monday.

In Germany, Jackson Irvine and Connor Metcalfe could be in action when St. Pauli host Hamburger SV on Saturday at 3:30am (AEDT).

Fresh from reaching an agreement with FC St. Pauli over a new contract extension, Irvine will be looking to put in another impressive display.

In Italy, Ajdin Hrustic could be in action when Hellas Verona they take on AC Milan on Monday at 5:45am (AEDT) while in Serie B, Fran Karačić and Brescia Calcio face Cagliari on Saturday at 11pm (AEDT). 

In France, Toulouse and Denis Genreau will be looking to make another Ligue 1 appearance when they host to Angers on Sunday at 10pm (AEDT). 


In Belgium, Jason Davidson and James Jeggo's K.A.S. Eupen face off against Cercle Brugge on Sunday at 3:15am (AEDT). Three points for Eupen against a fellow relegation candidate would help them climb out of the danger zone. 

In Spain, Awer Mabil could be in action when Cádiz CF face Girona on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT).

Tyrese Francois' HNK Gorica face Hajduk Split on Sunday at 4:05am (AEDT) in the Croatian Football League. 

In Olyroos abroad news, Alou Kuol could also feature for VfB Stuttgart II when they take on Kickers Offenbach on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT). 

Meanwhile, Josh Rawlins could be in action for Jong FC Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie on Saturday at 5am (AEDT) when they play De Graafschap.
