It was a frustrating night for Caltex Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren as his 10-man Hibernian held on for a 1-1 at St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday morning (AEDT).
But the young Aussie only played 14 minutes, substituted after Hibs keeper Ofir Marciano was sent off for handling outside his area.
With substitute keeper Cameron Bell needing to come on, the speedy striker was the unlucky player to be sacrificed by manager Neil Lennon.
Hibernian did take the lead while Maclaren was on the pitch, with Efe Ambrose heading the visitors in front inside two minutes.
Just when it looked like they would hold on for a courageous win, Chris Kane struck for St Johnstone seven minutes from time.
The result keeps Hibs in fourth spot on the SPL ladder, one point behind Aberdeen.
They are next in action in a fortnight when they host Partick Thistle, which has fellow Aussie Ryan Edwards in their ranks.
Elsewhere, Mark Milligan played a full 90 minutes in the Saudi Pro League as his Al Ahli side won 3-0 at Al Raed.
After scores were locked at 0-0 at the break, Al Ahli scored three times in 16 minutes to seal a comfortable win.
Al Ahli are currently second on the table, just one point behind leaders Al Hilal.
