Aussies Abroad: Goodwin sets up winner as Al Wehda go second

Craig Goodwin has continued his outstanding form in the Saudi Pro League, notching an assist in Al Wehda’s win over Al Faisaly on Saturday morning (AEDT).

The Caltex Socceroos winger played in a low cross to Rakan Al-Shamlan, who took a touch before burying his shot past the keeper.

It was the only goal of the game at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium as Al Wehda held on for their fifth win from their last six games in all competitions.

Goodwin has been one of the stars of Al Wehda’s rich vein of form, taking his tally to five assists and two goals from 13 appearances.

The Victory has jumped Al Wehda up to second spot on the Saudi Pro League ladder, just two points behind leaders Al Nassr, although they have played a game more.

Meanwhile, a little closer to home and Mitch Duke played the full 90 minutes as his Western Sydney Wanderers beat Adelaide United 3-2 in the Hyundai A-League.

Duke, who is captain of the Wanderers, helped his side to their first win in their last eight games to jump back into the top six.
