Aussies Abroad: Boyle, Degenek look to maintain perfect records in Scotland & Serbia

Martin Boyle’s Hibernian will be aiming to register a fourth straight win in the Scottish Premiership while Milos Degenek’s FK Crvena Zvezda will also be going in search of a fourth consecutive victory in their top of the table clash in the Serbian SuperLiga.

In the Scottish Premiership, Martin Boyle put in a full shift for Hibernian as they secured their third consecutive league victory on Wednesday morning – getting up 1-0 against Dundee United.

Boyle will be back on the pitch on this weekend when his side welcome Motherwell to Easter Road at 2:30am on Sunday.

In the Serbian SuperLiga, Milos Degenek’s FK Crvena Zvezda will go head to head against FK Spartak Subotica at 3am on Saturday.

This will be a top of the table battle with both sides holding a perfect record after the first three rounds.

Degenek’s side occupy top spot thanks to their superior goal difference and are the only side yet to concede a goal this season.

All three Korean-based Socceroos will be involved in the K League on Saturday night.

Brandon O’Neill’s Pohang Steelers have a meeting with Ulsan Hyundai at 8pm while Terry Antonis and Adam Taggart’s Suwon Bluewings will kick off against Jeonbuk FC at the same time.

Another milestone will be achieved in Korean football this weekend with more fans permitted to attend the matches.

From Friday August 14, K League clubs will be allowed to open 25% of their respective stadium’s capacity to supporters as part of the government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Thomas Deng’s Urawa Red Diamonds will also be taking to the pitch on Saturday as they prepare to entertain Sanfrecce Hiroshima at 8pm.

This fixture has all the indicators to be an electrifying battle with both sides evenly matched on the league table.

The Red Diamonds sit in 7th on the league table with 14 points while Hiroshima are one place and one point below them, however they do have a game in hand over Deng’s side.
