Aussies Abroad: Behich scores, Mooy assists (again), Ryan strong in Europe

Starting in Scotland, where Aaron Mooy went head-to-head with fellow Socceroos Kye Rowles, Nathaniel Atkinson, Cam Devlin and Garang Kuol at Celtic Park on Thursday as Ange Postecoglou just took charge of his 100th Celtic game. 

Mooy started and assisted Celtic's second goal with a through ball to Kyogo Furuhashi on the hour mark before being substituted in the 80th minute. 

Rowles and Atkinson played 90 minutes for Hearts while Devlin started and was substituted in the 71st minute. Kuol also came off the bench in the 65th minute.

The teams will face off again in the Scottish Cup Quarter Final on Saturday at 11:15pm (AEDT).

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership, Aziz Behich played 90 minutes and scored a second-half equaliser as Dundee United ended a run of seven straight defeats by drawing 1-1 with Livingston on Thursday.

James Jeggo was also in action on Thursday with another 90 minutes as Hibernian lost 4-1 against Rangers.

In the Europa Conference League, Maty Ryan was in action on Tuesday as his AZ Alkmaar team beat Lazio 2-1 in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

Ryan is likely to start again for AZ Alkmaar when they face Groningen on Sunday at 6am (AEDT). 

Alkmaar have dropped to third position in the Eredivisie but have gained momentum in recent weeks with back-to-back wins as they look to regain second position from Ajax.

Over to the Japanese League Cup, where Thomas Deng was an unused substitute for Albirex Niigata on Wednesday as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Avispa Fukuoka.

He could feature again when Albirex face Kawasaki in the J1 League on Saturday at 4pm (AEDT). 

Elsewhere in the  Japanese League Cup, Mitch Langerak also played for Nagoya Grampus and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Vissel Kobe on Wednesday. 

He is likely to start again when they face Kashiwa Reysol on Sunday at 5pm (AEDT) in the J1 League. 

In Qatar, Trent Sainsbury started but left the pitch after 23 minutes as Al-Wakrah SC lost on penalties 3-1 in the Emir Cup Round of 16 on Thursday.

It is unclear if he will feature when Al-Wakrah face Al Rayyan on Monday at 1am (AEDT). 

In England, Harry Souttar is likely to feature again when Leicester City host Chelsea on Sunday at 2am (AEDT). 

Leicester are 15th in the Premier League, two points above the relegation zone. 

In the Championship, Riley McGree will hope his Middlesbrough side can record back-to-back victories to get their promotion charge back on track when they travel to Swansea City on Sunday at 2am (AEDT).

Boro's previous six-game win streak ended with defeat to West Brom a fortnight ago but they bounced back with a 5-0 win over Reading in their last outing. 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Bailey Wright could appear in Rotherham United's tie against Birmingham on Sunday at 2am (AEDT). 

Kenny Dougall's Blackpool FC will be looking to narrow the gap on escaping the relegation zone when they face Bristol City on Saturday at 11:30pm (AEDT). 

Callum Elder is also likely to feature for Hull City when they face Coventry on Sunday at 2am (AEDT). 


Tom Rogic could also return for West Brom on Sunday at 2am (AEDT) when they take on Huddersfield.

In League One, Massimo Luongo could be in line to feature for Ipswich Town FC again in a clash with Bolton on Sunday at 2am (AEDT). 

In Germany, both Connor Metcalfe and Jackson Irvine will be looking to continue their impressive run of form when St Pauli host SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT) in the 2. Bundesliga. 

Irvine has been in fantastic form of late with two goals in his last three matches to help St Pauli climb to seventh in their promotion charge.

In Czechia, Awer Mabil is likely to feature for AC Sparta Prague when they travel to FC Baník Ostrava on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

In France's Ligue 1, Denis Genreau could be in action again when they travel to Angers on Monday at 1am (AEDT).

In Serie B, Fran Karacic may play again when Brescia Calcio face Venezia on Sunday at 12am (AEDT).

Jason Davidson's KAS Eupen host fellow relegation battlers Oostende in the Belgian Pro League on Monday at 5:15am (AEDT). Eupen are three points above the relegation zone with six games remaining. 


In Austria, James Holland is a chance to be in action for FK Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga against SK Strum Graz on Monday at 3am (AEDT). 

In the Norwegian Cup, Nick D'Agostino could feature alongside Gianni Stensness for FK Viking against Rosenborg on Monday at 6:15am (AEDT).

Mitch Duke is expected to feature for Machida Zelvia in the J2 League when they face Mito HollyHock on Sunday at 4pm (AEDT). 


The K1 League also continues with Harrison Delbridge's Incheon United in action against Jeju on Sunday at 6:30pm (AEDT). 

In the Iranian Pro League, Ruon Tongyik is likely to feature for Sanat Mes Kerman against Havadar on Sunday at 10:30pm (AEDT). Tongyik scored in a 1-1 draw with Foolad on Monday. 

In Israel, Nikita Rukavytsya could feature again for Maccabi when they face Hapoel Tel Aviv FC on Tuesday at 5:30am (AEDT). 

In the MLS, Milos Degenek is likely to feature again for Columbus Crew against Toronto on Sunday at 11:30am (AEDT). 

Columbus kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia but they bounced back with a 2-0 win over Wayne Rooney's DC United in their last outing. 

Elsewhere in the US, Alex Gersbach could feature for Colorado Rapids again when they face San Jose on Sunday at 2pm (AEDT).

Starting in Scotland, Lewis Miller was an unused substitute on Thursday as Hibernian lost 4-1 against Rangers.

In the German Hesse Cup, John Iredale played 90 minutes and scored a goal as SV Wehen Wiesbaden beat FSV Dörnberg 6-1 on Thursday.

He could feature again in Germany's 3. Liga when SV Wehen Wiesbaden face 1. FC Saarbrücken on Monday at 12am (AEDT).  

In the German Regionalliga West, Jacob Italiano is likely to feature for Borussia Mönchengladbach II against SC Wiedenbruck on Sunday at 12am (AEDT).


In the English Championship, goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic could be in action again when Huddersfield face West Brom on Sunday at 2am (AEDT). 

In League One, Caleb Watts may feature for Morecambe against Shrewsbury on Sunday at 2am (AEDT).

In League Two, Lachlan Brook could be in action again when Crewe Alexandra take on Salford City on Saturday at 6:45am (AEDT). 

In the Premier League International Cup, Cameron Peupion played 90 minutes for Brighton & Hove Albion U21 Thursday as they lost 3-2 to Valencia U21. 

In the Premier League Professional Development League, Jordan Harrison could feature for Watford U21 against Reading on Wednesday at 12am (AEDT). 

In the Norweigan Cup, Patrick Yazbek could make his debut for Viking FK against Rosenborg on Monday at 6:15am (AEDT).

Dylan Ryan could also be in action in the Eerste Divisie when FC Den Bosch face VVV-Venlo on Saturday at 6am (AEDT).

  • In Italy's Serie A, Cristian Volpato could feature for AS Roma when they face U.S. Sassuolo Calcio on Monday at 4am (AEDT). Volpato was an unused substitute in the 2-0 Europa League win over Real Sociedad on Friday.
  • In Serie B, Alessandro Circati may be in action when Parma face FC Südtirol on Sunday at 12am (AEDT). 
  • In Greece, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos is a chance to feature for PAS Giannina against Aris on Monday at 4am (AEDT) in the Super League.
  • In Croatia, Anthony Kalik may appear for Hajduk Split against Osijek on Monday at 3:30am (AEDT) in the Croatian First League.
